Top Car Manufacturers

The world’s top automobile countries consist of the United States, China and Japan with the Asian markets developing at a lighting pace.

Toyota

Toyota Motor Corporation is a giant in the Car Manufacturer circle; it is based in Japan yet by no means is it restricted to Japan: in 2010, Toyota had 300,734 people under their employment worldwide. Based on revenue it is considered the ninth largest company in the world and it has recently manufactured its 200 millionth vehicle. Popular models include the Toyota Yaris, the Prius, the Landcruiser, the Auris and the GT86. Outside of Japan Toyota is one of the most popular brands in Australia, a little googling took us here to drive.com’s Australian site, where they show Toyota as the most popular brand, selling many of the most popular vehicles in the country.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen is an automobile manufacturer which is based in Germany and is a huge group which owns many prestigious brands. Volkswagen is the most popular brand under the Volkswagen Group, but they also sell passenger cars under the Audi, Bentley Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT and Skoda brands…. A pretty impressive roster! Volkswagen have many famous vehicles such as the Beetle, the Golf, the Polo and the Passat.

Hyundai

Hyundai is another manufacturer coming out of Asia, specifically it is based in South Korea and it has partnered with Kia to form the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. The Motor Company was formed in 1967, but Hyundai were fast learners and by 1990 they were exporting some 1 million cars a year to 190 countries globally. It is now one of the biggest manufacturers in the world employing around 75,000 people with vehicles sold in 193 countries. Some popular models include the i30, the i20 the ix35 and the Santa Fe. Ford

Ford is one of the first ever car manufacturers arriving and almost creating the market in 1903. Their first car, the Model T was released in 1908 and they wasted no time in expanding, with a factory opened 3 years later in Manchester, England. Whilst they obviously made a huge contribution to the auto industry, Ford were also the pioneers of mass scale production with their elaborate high scale assembly line. They introduced minimum wage and the 40 hour work week so they have left an important mark on the world as a whole, not just the Auto world. Other Manufacturers

Renault, Daimler AG, BMW and Honda are also huge in the world of car manufacturing and all have produced some brilliant models and they continue to do so. The future is bright for automobiles when you consider the amount of top of the range brands who are constantly attempting to out-do the other, a competition which benefits us a, as well as the planet we live on.
